Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 24, 2026
This policy describes what information ListenToX collects, how we use it, and what choices you have. It applies to everyone who uses our service.
1. Information We Collect
When you sign in with your X (Twitter) account, we access the following data through the X OAuth API and the SocialData API:
- Profile information — your display name, username, profile picture, and email address from X.
- Followed accounts — the list of X accounts you follow, so we can fetch their tweets.
- Timeline tweets — recent tweets from accounts you follow, used to generate your audio episodes.
- Usage data — how you interact with the service (listening mode preferences, voice selections, feed activity). We collect this to improve the product.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use the data we collect to:
- Convert tweets from your timeline into audio episodes using text-to-speech.
- Generate and serve your private RSS podcast feed.
- Keep your content in sync with your X timeline through daily automated updates.
- Provide customer support and respond to your questions.
- Improve the service by understanding how it gets used.
3. Third-Party Services
ListenToX relies on a few external services to work. Here is what each one does and what data they handle:
- X (Twitter) — We use X OAuth for sign-in only. We do not access X APIs directly. Your followed accounts and tweets are fetched through SocialData, a third-party data provider. X has its own privacy policy governing how it handles your data.
- OpenRouter — We send tweet text to OpenRouter, which routes it to the OpenAI TTS model for audio generation. The text content of tweets is processed by this service to create your episodes.
- Cloudflare R2 — Generated audio files are stored on Cloudflare R2, an object storage service. Files are served from Cloudflare's infrastructure when you or your podcast app requests them.
- Stripe — For paid subscription plans, Stripe handles payment processing. We do not store your credit card number on our servers. Stripe's privacy policy applies to payment data.
4. Data Storage & Security
Your data is stored in a database hosted on our infrastructure provider and on Cloudflare R2 for audio files. We take reasonable measures to protect your data, including:
- Encrypted connections (HTTPS) for all data in transit.
- Access controls limiting who at ListenToX can view user data.
- Regular security reviews of our infrastructure.
No system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information to the best of our ability.
5. Your Private RSS Feed
Each user receives a unique RSS feed URL protected by a random token. This feed URL is the only way to access your generated audio episodes. Anyone who has this URL can listen to your episodes. Keep it private. You can regenerate your feed token from your account settings at any time if you believe it has been compromised.
6. Data Retention
We keep your data as long as your account is active. Tweet data is automatically deleted after 48 hours — we only retain recent tweets needed for audio generation. If you delete your account, we remove your profile, followed accounts, tweet data, generated audio files, and RSS feed token within 30 days. We may retain anonymized, aggregated data for analytics purposes after that point.
7. Your Rights
You can:
- View the personal data we hold about you by contacting us.
- Request deletion of your account and all associated data.
- Export your data in a machine-readable format by reaching out to us.
- Disconnect your X account at any time from your settings page.
To exercise any of these rights, send an email to [email protected].
8. Cookies
We use a small number of cookies to keep you signed in during a session and to remember your theme preference (light, dark, or system). We do not use tracking cookies or sell data to advertisers. You can control cookies through your browser settings, though disabling them may affect your ability to stay signed in.
9. Children's Privacy
ListenToX is not intended for anyone under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will change the "Last updated" date at the top and notify you via email or a notice in the app. Continued use of ListenToX after changes take effect means you accept the revised policy.
